Bob Burnquist fährt konsistent und gewinnt mit einem Switch Backside Ollie to Indy 360 den Big Air Contest vor Danny Way. Danny Way slamt so unglaublich hart nach einem massiven Backflip über den Kicker und anschließendem McTwist, fällt von der Coping fast bis ins flat und bleibt liegen. Den Zuschauern bleibt der Atem stehen. Way steht langsam auf, macht 10 Minuten Pause und legt die Combo im zweiten Versuch sauber hin! Unglaublich!
Danny Way liegt bis dahin auf Platz eins. Bob Burnquist nutzt aber anschließend seine Chance, floatet einen switch backside 180 und einen backside 360 und gewinnt! Ich hätte es zwar lieber Mr. Unbreakable Way in seiner eigenen Rampe gegönnt, aber was solls - sind wir mal faire Sportsmänner…… Ach ja, Jacke Brown landet auf Platz drei (backside no-grab 360 & 5,40m McTwist).

“Prepare to enter another dimension of european skateboarding!” So wird es auf der Carhartt Website vollmundig angekündgt, neben Etnies der Hauptsponsor der 8. Europäischen Skateboarding Meisterschaft. Vom 07.-10. August 2008, treten 400 Fahrer aus 20 Nationen gegeneinander an.
Wie immer findet der Contest im “Kuntschi” statt, wie die Basler liebevoll die Kunsteisbahn St. Margarethen nennen. Das Motto lautet diese Jahr “Science Fiction”. Also Freunde des rollenden Bretts. Nichts wie hin!

Die “dick auf die Pauke hauen” X-Games starten heute. Danny Way ist diesesmal mit von der Partie und Favorit bei der Big Air Competion. Was wird der Gute wohl diesmal wieder für Mega-Stunts hinlegen - lassen wir uns überraschen. Bob Burnquist scheint auch in Hochform zu sein, da gibt es bestimmt einiges zu bestaunen!
Beim Street Contest ist klar Eric Kosten der Oldie im Gegensatz zu dem 20 Jahre jüngeren Nyjah Huston, lässt sich aber bestimmt nich so leicht die Butter vom Brot nehmen. Mark Appleyard, Billy Marks, Ryan Sheckler, Paul Rodriguez, Rodolfo Ramos, Terry Kennedy, Jereme Rogers und Greg Lutzka werden aber auch noch ein Wörtchen mitreden wollen.
